Comparison of my products to existing media products from Amna Qaiser

Hardware and software used

The microphone was used so that while recording the radio advert the voice is clear and does not distort

The camera had its usage during shooting pictures for the newspaper and recording the newspaper radio advert

All the work such as making presentations, uploading slides,viewing contents and of course running all the required software's was done on this laptop

Fonts which i used in my newspaper pages and the newspaper poster was downloaded from this site such as the English towne font

The videos which i had to upload to blogger was first uploaded to vimeo so that the embedded code could be generated  

I viewed all the required tutorial videos,radio adverts,evaluation on YouTube to help me develop my own products

As blogger supports videos through an embedded code so i uploaded all the presentations on slide share so they could be uploaded on my blog

I created the blog on blogger and uploaded all the contents to it 

Microsoft word was used to write articles for my newspaper as photoshop didnot support spell checker so word was a better option. I later copied the articles to the psd file

Adobe photoshop was used to construct the two pages of my newspaper which was the main task and the newspaper poster which was one of the ancillary task 

I made my radio advert using the windows live movie maker software

The logo for my newspaper was made using a template from this software which is logo design studio pro

As windows 8 is more faster than windows 7 it helped me carry out such graphical task more easily

I used google mainly in my research in which i searched for existing media products such as newspaper,poster and radio adverts and then i used it in my evaluation to download images and refer to other student work 

All my presentations for analysis and evaluations was made using Microsoft power point 2010

Construction steps (Second page)

 Like the first page my first step here was again to create the basic structure of the second page using the line tool to construct the lines dividing the columns

 I then added the logo and the title followed by the page number on the right most side of the top of the paper

I inserted my two advert at the bottom of the page first so i can have an idea how much space will it take so that my articles can be adjusted accordingly

 Next i added the main story to my second page including its title and its related image on the top left of the paper.

 Next i added some of the sub stories but left the two on the right because i first wanted to insert the longer column to see if i need to adjust its width because i could not make it longer due to the adverts hence if adjustment was needed i had to increase it width

When all the adjustments were finalized i then added my final two stories so that my finished product was revealed.

Construction steps (Front page)

The first step was to create the basic skeleton structure of the newspaper this included all the different columns that will be filled with articles later. I loaded a new file in photo shop and using the line tool constructed all the vertical and horizontal lines.

I then inserted the newspaper logo on the top left and the title "Newspaper" spread across the top so that the blank space after the logo can be filled otherwise the space gave a empty and unfinished look

In my structure i had already decided the placement of the images so i inserted all the images for every story before adding the article title and text. This also included the advert that i created for my newspaper.

The next step was to add the first most important story of my newspaper which was the headline and it's story. This part took the most space on my front page and also had the longest article.

Next i added the three sub stories and their titles to the front page which were approximately of the same length.

In the end i inserted the side bar of my newspaper this featured an article about a famous photographer of :Lahore. This article was placed on the side so that it could gain the individual attention without being mixed up with the other sub stories.

Construction steps (Radio advert)

 In windows live movie maker i loaded a new project  and inserted a blank title screen to which i will add my recoded audio

 I inserted my recoded voice as background audio to my title screen because my recoded voice was an audio file and i had to add music to it so i had to save it as a video file first

 I saved the audio as a video file so i can add background music to it as movie maker cannot add music to aduio files

 I then loaded another project and inserted  my video file which i just saved  to it as shown in this step above

 My next task was to add background music to my video. I downloaded the music from a royalty free website and then added the music file to my video file

 After the music was added all that was left to do was add the title to my screen so that it mention what the video is i added the text "Lahorian newspaper radio advert"

Finally i saved the project as my final video file which was my ancillary task (newspaper radio advert)

Construction steps (Poster advert)

 Loading a new file i added a canvas of 5"x 10" on which i had to construct my poster for my newspaper

 I then added a background image of my poster which represents the process of construction as symbol that my paper is under development

As i wanted to give the corner of my poster a curled paper effect i added a triangular picture of a newspaper and over that added my newspaper logo.

 Using the rectangle marquee tool i selected a square from the top left and added skew effect to turn the page over giving the effect that the poster is curled from the corner. i also inserted the under construction image to get the message through to the audience.

Finally i added the text which would tell my audience that my newspaper will be soon available in their retail outlets.With that my poster was complete.
